The fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good during an encounter with ICE agents in Minneapolis has sparked intense national debate. Authorities say Good attempted to drive away during the incident, while video footage shows an officer, identified as Jonathan Ross, firing into her vehicle. She later died from her injuries.
The Department of Homeland Security described Good as a threat, a characterization echoed by Donald Trump, JD Vance, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. They have suggested the officer acted in self-defense. Others, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, have called for charges, arguing the shooting was unjustified.
Even members of Good’s extended family have expressed differing views, with some saying the situation unfolded rapidly and was difficult for everyone involved. The case remains under review as investigators examine the evidence and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
