Vikki Dougan wasn’t just a fashion icon—she was a quiet revolutionary in old Hollywood. In an era obsessed with curves and cleavage, she shocked the industry by doing the opposite, turning her back into her signature. Nicknamed “The Back of Hollywood,” Dougan became famous for daring backless gowns that challenged traditional ideas of glamour and femininity.
Born Edith Tooker in Brooklyn in 1929, her rise was unconventional. After spending part of her youth in boarding school, she found her way into beauty pageants and modeling, where her striking presence stood out. Reinventing herself as Vikki Dougan, she embraced a bold identity that helped her carve a unique place in Hollywood history. Decades later, her fearless style still resonates as a reminder that true glamour often comes from breaking the rules.
