Donald Trump’s State of the Union drew strong reactions, with many viewers responding positively. A CNN–SSRS instant poll found that nearly two-thirds of viewers felt better about the speech, especially on issues like immigration and the economy.
Still, the audience was already largely politically engaged, suggesting the speech mostly reinforced existing views rather than changed minds. The response reflects how major political events can energize supporters while also highlighting the country’s deep divisions.
