A joke at the Oscars quickly turned into a viral moment after Conan O’Brien teased Kid Rock during his opening monologue, joking that viewers uncomfortable with the show could watch an “alternate Oscars” hosted by the singer at a nearby Dave & Buster’s. While the audience laughed, Kid Rock didn’t find it funny, responding online that he usually enjoys jokes at his expense but felt this one missed the mark. Still, he turned the attention to his advantage by promoting his upcoming “Freedom 250” tour, using the moment to generate buzz despite his criticism of the joke.
