We grew up knowing that luxury belonged to other people. New toys and video games felt distant, almost unreal, so we learned to look down instead of out. The ground beneath our feet became our playground, and trumpet worm nests turned into treasure—small proofs that wonder could exist even when money didn’t. In the dirt, we learned to share, to compete without meanness, and to turn boredom into curiosity.
Those moments left a lasting mark. Hardship wasn’t just part of our childhood; it shaped who we became. We learned to value what was present instead of mourning what was missing. Even now, when life feels heavy, we remember muddy hands, laughter, and fragile nests treated like gold. That memory is our quiet strength—the ability to find beauty in small things and resilience where others never think to look.
