The mountain didn’t just shift—it buried everything in its path. After a powerful storm near Lillooet, families waited anxiously as rescue crews searched through mud, rock, and damaged highway. Hope slowly faded as days passed without answers.
During the storm, a massive landslide swept down the slope and engulfed vehicles on the road within seconds. Communication signals disappeared, and the unstable terrain made rescue efforts dangerous and slow. Eventually, authorities confirmed that three men had died in the disaster.
When Lisa Lapointe announced the recovery of the bodies, it brought painful closure but little comfort. The tragedy served as a stark reminder of how vulnerable mountain roads can be—and how quickly an ordinary trip can turn into a devastating event.
