The small black dots and dark band around your windshield are called the frit band, a baked-on enamel layer that helps the adhesive bond the glass securely to the car. It also blocks harmful UV rays that could weaken the seal over time.
The fading dot pattern helps distribute heat evenly during manufacturing, preventing warping and strengthening the windshield. What looks like a simple design actually plays an important role in safety and durability.
