The White House announced that Dr. Jill Biden has been nominated and confirmed by the Senate as the next U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, marking a historic moment as a sitting First Lady takes on a major diplomatic role. Standing beside President Joe Biden, she called it “the honor of a lifetime,” referencing her previous visits to Kyiv during the war.
The appointment comes at a critical time in Ukraine’s defense against Russia. Officials say her background in education and international outreach could help support humanitarian efforts and the rebuilding of schools. Ukrainian leaders welcomed the news, while international reactions continue to unfold.
