A federal court ruling against a Trump-era transgender military policy has reignited debate over who should determine military service standards—elected leaders or the courts.
The decision questioned the legitimacy of the policy, while critics argued that the military has long imposed eligibility requirements based on readiness, health, and performance standards.
Although restrictions on new transgender enlistments remain in place for now, the ruling could influence future legal battles over military qualification policies.
