A growing number of pregnant women are using cannabis to ease symptoms like nausea, stress, and sleep issues, especially when standard treatments fall short. Some report quick relief, fueling the online “cannamoms” trend.
However, health experts warn that relief doesn’t equal safety. Studies, including data from the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, show rising use—around 6.8% of pregnant women between 2021 and 2023—while concerns remain about potential risks to fetal brain development and long-term child health.
Doctors urge caution and recommend consulting healthcare professionals, as research is still ongoing and the full impact is not yet clear.
