Originally published in 1992, Gerald’s Game found new life with its 2017 Netflix adaptation. Directed by Mike Flanagan and based on Stephen King’s work, the story follows Jessie, trapped and handcuffed after her husband dies—forcing a tense fight for survival.
The film stands out for turning an internal, psychological story into a gripping visual experience. Instead of jump scares, it builds slow, intense dread through isolation and mental strain.
Audiences found it unforgettable, with some scenes pushing viewers to their limits. Even years later, it remains a standout psychological thriller on Netflix.
