On July 24, 2024, President Joe Biden announced from the Oval Office that he would withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. Emotional and tearful, he cited age and health concerns, emphasizing that the country’s interests came before personal ambition.
Speaking alongside his family, Biden reflected on his journey from a stuttering boy in Scranton to the presidency, calling it a “once-in-a-lifetime honor” to serve. He endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, urging the nation to support her leadership.
The decision drew widespread praise for his statesmanship, though some critics saw it as politically driven. Biden continued his presidential duties, focusing on policy and diplomacy, leaving the nation ready for a new chapter in its political landscape.
