Born in 1909, Ethel Caterham has lived through more than a century of change with quiet independence. Growing up in rural England and later working as an au pair in British India, she learned early to adapt and follow her own path. She married army officer Norman Caterham, raised two daughters while living in places like Hong Kong and Gibraltar, and even opened a nursery in Hong Kong that welcomed children from many cultures. After surviving two World Wars, the loss of her husband in 1976, and even Covid-19 at age 110, her simple philosophy remained the same: avoid arguments, listen to others, and live life your own way. Recognized by Guinness World Records and honored by King Charles III, she continues to embody resilience, calm strength, and remarkable longevity.
