A fire inside the Singhadurbar complex in Kathmandu in September 2025 damaged several ministry offices and archives, prompting concern over the safety of Nepal’s centralized government infrastructure. Officials said the national data center housed within the compound was not directly harmed, preserving critical digital records.
Emergency crews contained the blaze, but the incident briefly disrupted operations and highlighted the vulnerability of key state facilities. Authorities have reassured the public that core systems remain functional while assessments continue on structural damage and long-term safeguards.
